Great with other dogs.
Wants to play with cat.
Good with older children.

This handsome Doberboy came to us from a loving home where he had been since a pup.  He lived with another dog there, and he’s always happy to meet and play with other dogs.  The thing of it is, as so often happens, the family had to make an unexpected move and couldn’t take him with them.  Thankfully, they surrendered him to Elijah’s House, and he’ll soon be with another loving family.

As you can see from his pictures, aside from perhaps being a trifle lean, there’s no fault to be found with this fellow.  He’s every bit as good as he is good looking.

Volunteer comments:
“When I first met Chesney, I thought there was something wrong when he refused to walk from the building to one of the play fields. Even in the courtyard he was walking oddly.  The mystery was solved when he got onto grass, where he walked and ran normally.   It seems this was his first encounter with gravel, and he didn’t like it!  Once we got past the initial gravel hesitancy, it quickly became obvious that he’s a very easygoing boy.  And in typical Dobie fashion, he wants to be close and loves to be touched, especially a gentle ear rub.”

“Chesney is a really good-looking red Doberman - lean and fit with good energy.  He was in one of the fields by himself when I first introduced myself; he had no reservations about meeting a stranger and was excited when I came in for a visit.  In fact, he whimpered eagerly as he saw me visit another Dobie on my way to see him!  He will be a wonderful companion - active but not hyper.  We took him when we went to pick up leaves in one of the fields, and he was a delight.  He roamed the perimeter for a bit as one would expect but always checked in on us. He loves to run and was super excited when we would take breaks to play with him.  He is definitely worth the trip to meet him.”

Accolades all around, you see.  Don’t delay if you’re interested in him.  Once your application is approved make an appointment to meet him, and plan on an extra passenger on the way home.
