Through the years, Rescue Angels have done immeasurable good for Dobers in need of transportation to DRT.  From multiple relays to airplanes to many hours and sometimes more than a day traveling, they have delivered Dobers-in-need to us from all over the region.  Our work is greatly enhanced by their gracious, tireless, can-do efforts, and many Dobermans owe their very lives to these wonderful people.

Bragg is one more who is able to be with us thanks to the efforts of multiple Rescue Angels who transported him and have been trying to raise money for his heart worm treatment and boarding over Labor Day weekend while awaiting a space to open up at Elijah’s House.

We have no information on his background, but he’s a super nice 7-year-old.  Unfortunately, he’s heart worm positive and has Entropion in one eye.

Entropion is a condition where the lower lid is folded over into the eye and causes constant irritation.  Thankfully, we will have it corrected with surgery, and the heart worm will be eradicated with heart worm treatment, so both previously existing health issues are being resolved.

Overall, he’s very good looking and in fine form for an older Dober, with a good spirit to boot, who will be thrilled to be in a loving home with proper care and attention for the rest of his life.

Volunteer comments:
“Bragg is a super sweet boy - very curious when he was taken to the field and definitely interested in exploring his surroundings. He’s very docile and wants to be loved.  My introduction to him was basically to say hello and immediately give him a bath.  Despite not liking the bath, he knew we were taking care of him.  When I checked on him about an hour later, he was very excited to see me!  I can see he wants to build trust, and the right adopter is going to get a really great companion!”

"Bragg is a senior boy, but you'd never be able to tell. He gets so excited for just the littlest bit of attention you'll give him and he's still got enough energy to play across the fence with his fellow DRT residents."

And this from the kennel owner where he was boarded over the holiday weekend:
“"He is such a mild mannered Doberman.  If I could add another to my family, I'd adopt him in a heart beat.  Bragg seems to be so thankful for the attention he receives."

Regardless of what his past may have been, this handsome senior Dober is an excellent fellow just waiting for a proper home.  If you think yours may be the one, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come meet, observe, and visit with him for a while.  Chances are you’ll catch a heart “infection” of your own once you’ve met him – one for which there is no cure.
