This dear young Dobergirl has been through quite a bit before coming to Elijah’s House.

Apparently, in her original residence (can’t call it a home) they were trying to breed her at ten months!  Somehow then a non-traditional rescue group got ahold of her.  She had a bacterial skin infection, and they were trying to treat it with Dawn (works for oil-spill victims, right?) and oregano.

Now, a quick search of the internet reveals numerous sites advocating the beneficial properties of oregano for a variety of health-related issues, so they were honestly trying to do the best thing for her, as they understood it.  But as you can see from her early pics, not much had been gained in the two months she was with them.  We’re just really glad they helped her find her way to our breed-specific rescue.  It’s the very best thing that can happen for a Doberman that needs a new home.

As with the occasional Dober, she apparently is capable of climbing a fence, but while she has mastered a four-foot fence, she is unable to get over a five-foot one, so that resolves a potential challenge.  That having been said, I’m guessing once she’s in a loving, forever home, she won’t be looking to leave the yard anyway.

Mama Carol describes her variously as “a great dog,” “friendly,” “exuberant,” and “quite a sweetie.”

And our volunteers add these comments:
“What a sweet and friendly girl!  Once her coat fills back in, she’ll be one beautiful Dobe, too.  Her personality is what is going to win someone’s heart though – it’s full of love!”

“Kaylee has a really great spirit and seems as though she’s never met a stranger.  She loves to play.  We were throwing a toy for her, and rather than give it back she just lay down on it.  After a few times (and noting her conspiratorial grin), we figured out she was doing it to tease us back - super cute and she knew it!  She can really put a smile on your face just watching her.”

“This young girl doesn't know a stranger...happy go-lucky and full of love.”

“Kaylee is a precious little lady who is ready to be your number one gal!  She is so sweet and loving, and with mama Carol’s help and a wonderful family, she will truly thrive!”

"Kaylee was quite the big helper doing leaves! She would zoom around and then nose dive in to the pile so she could bury her face and rest a while! It was so cute, and she was having an absolute ball!"  (See photo below)

And the good news is, since her arrival here and as a result fo the good care and treatment she’s been receiving at Elijah’s House, her bacterial infection is all gone now and her hair has grown back.  She looks much better and is finished with her antibiotics.  It's a significant difference from when she first came to us, and we’re proud as can be at how she has flourished under our care.

Clearly, despite her challenging start this is one lovely young Dobergirl who is simply in need of a first real home to match her quality and potential.  If you think your home may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see for yourself what a great gal she is.  I think you’ll find her to be all we’ve described and more.
