This precious, sober-faced little Dobergirl came to us from a shelter.  She’d been dropped off there by a fellow who only had her for three weeks.  She was flea-infested and had bitten herself half to death, so to speak, trying to get some relief from the fleas.  He didn’t want to deal with her problems (minor and easily resolved), so he dropped her at the shelter.  No word on what her circumstances had been before that, but it sure looks as though she hasn’t had a lot of love and care to this point.

Her blue coat, not surprisingly thin on intake, is dark and is coming back beautifully now she is on good food and supplements.  It really looks 100% better after receiving a medicated bath and having started on a run of antibiotics.

Understandably she’s somewhat shy around new folks.  I guess I’d be hesitant and uncertain if I’d been through what she’s experienced.  That having been said, it’s clear there’s a gentle, loving-and-needing-to-be-loved Dober inside just begging to get out.  As her confidence builds, her individuality and playfulness are increasing along with it, and she will certainly mature into a lovely adult and a wonderful, grateful, loving companion.

She’s also made friends with Dash, one of our other Dober rescues, and loves playing with him and happily sharing her toys.

Volunteer comments:
“Cora is a sweet little girl that is shy upon first introduction.  While a bit cautious of her new surroundings, you could still she her let out some of her personality.  She is a runner, and that is how she likes to let out her energy.  We had her in a field which had other Dobies beside her, and she seemed to welcome their presence.  It looks as though shell do well in a home with another dog.  I’m looking forward to getting to know her better, because I think she is really going to be affectionate once she settles in.”

If sweet, gentle, and aching to be loved are qualities that speak to you, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved.  Spend a little quiet time making of and getting to know her.  Show her some love and care, and you’ll have a devoted companion for life.
