This energetic and loving young Dobergirl came to us after having been used as a baby factory at her former residence.  She had been kept outside, was heart worm positive (no longer), and was underweight (filled out now).  Apparently once she was of no use to the “breeder” anymore, she was surrendered to a shelter.

Having been an outside dog and used for breeding, she was poorly socialized with dogs who were strange to her, but during her time at Elijah’s House, she has become less territorial to the point that rather than being defensive, she plays with the other dogs along the fence line.  Having not been part of a family, she initially tended to be a bit reserved when meeting strangers, but that has lessened to the point it’s not really a factor anymore.  This much is sure, she just soaks up the attention and affection she receives regularly from us, and is eager to be loved and made of. In my own interaction with her, she was not at all shy in greeting and was gently appreciative of the attention and treats.

Unavoidably, her young body shows the signs of having been bred several times, but that hasn’t diminished in the least her energy, playfulness, and loveability.   Her coat is thick and shiny, and it’s soft and velvety to the touch.

Out volunteers share these observations:
"While out in an exercise field, she likes to go around sniffing the scent paths of critters, curious about who has passed by, happily doing her independent thing, but she responded well when called."

"She likes being with people and is gentle with her play and attention seeking, asking calmly - not pushy.  She may hesitate momentarily at unfamiliar things but is unfazed overall."

"I think she has a sweet fun loving spirit. She has really blossomed and come into her own since coming to us. She wants nothing more than to run for the sheer fun of it. She likes to be petted and loved on. She's been a favorite of mine since she's been with us. She's like the lamp from Aladin. She came to us tarnished and a little beat up but once cleaned up and shined, she will grant you the best wish, love. Brianna is the Jeanie of the lamp and will be magic for whoever finds her."

"Briana has really come out of her shell. She has become a happy go lucky girl. She is great on a leash. At night, she will lay next to you to be petted, but is also content to chew on a bone."

"Briana is so full of life. She has a heart as soft as her fur, and a heart that radiates joy. She’s not had an easy road, and like with humans that has matured this sweet girl. However, she loves as though she’s never been hurt. She is such a kindhearted girl with a gentle demeanor, and always ready to give or receive affection (she’s not picky with either). But don’t let that tender look in her eye fool you, she is always ready for playtime. This girl loves to run, especially if there is someone to run with! Briana is dobie that deserves the world and will give the world back, and is so very hard not to absolutely adore."

"Briana reminds me of a kid in high school who's older brother or sister is a few grades higher and is one of the popular kids. The younger one lives in the shadow of the older until after finally the older sibling graduates. This was Briana after Tiana left DRT. She came out from behind the shadow and became herself. An energetic, loving, beautiful Dobe. She's excited to see me, loves to play and, be my "helper" when working in the fields."

"You would never know this is the same dog as the one that originally arrived at DRT. She is so well adjusted and friendly. So genuinely sweet and attentive. It’s amazing how love, attention, and kindness has brought out such a wonderful girl."

If you think this gentle lady may be a match for your home, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come spend a little time getting to know her. If you do, I’m confident you’ll be convinced of her companionability and desire to be a loving member of a family and a home where she gets to live inside and snuggle with her new family forevermore.
