This handsome Doberboy came to us from a shelter where he had been picked up as a stray.  In addition to having a couple of growths (since removed), he was underweight and heart worm positive, but between Mama Carol’s penchant for plying her pups with a plethora of palatable repasts and the miracles of modern medical mendicants, he’ll be sleek and worm free shortly.

As you can see from his pictures, he’s a handsome fellow who is eager, interested, and engaged.  He’s also easy on leash and eager to please.  Mama Carol says he’s a “super nice senior.”

Our volunteers have shared some comments about him, as well:
“The first thing I noticed about Durham was his happy face!  He walks well on a leash and is appreciative of any and all love you have to offer!  He really enjoys a good chest rub and kisses on his sweet face!”

“Upon greeting, he seemed a little unsure of me, but he quickly became a “Velcro” Dobie after a little ear rub, and he remained that way throughout our field time.”

"He asks for attention by nuzzling, and he's a leaner.  Seems like a sweet boy who just wants someone to love him and give attention to him."

"Durham is loving and congenial.  He loves to be with people and follows along when you work outside.  He’d make a great companion!"

And apparently he's every bit as congenial with other dogs as he is with people.  Mama Carol describes it this way:

"We had a new Doberman come in yesterday and she climbed the gate into the area where Durham was exercising.  She and he met me at the gate with tails wagging."

This fellow seems like an easy choice for an excellent and engaging companion, so make an appointment to meet him after your application is approved, and come see for yourself what a treasure he is.  His name may be Durham, but he’s no bull.  :-)
