Great with other dogs.
Okay with cats. (lived with one)
Up to date on vaccinations and presently on monthly heartworm preventative.
YOU WANT CHIPS WITH THAT?
OK, so we all know what salsa is, right? But you know me, I'm a curious guy (No, I didn't say peculiar; I said curious). So I looked it up online to see what there was to know.
Merriam-Webster defines salsa as "a spicy sauce made from tomatoes, onions, and hot peppers." Its etymology is from Latin and has to do with salt. But the definition also provides a link to sauce. When I went there, I found this: "something that adds zest or piquancy", and I knew I'd found that which I was seeking.
Our new girl, Salsa, has returned to Elijah's House after having been placed by us in a great forever home when she was a pup about 4 1/2 years ago. Her new home included a cat (whom she loved) and had an underground fence that kept her safe in the yard. (Just yesterday I turned around in a yard that had three English Springer Spaniels with sensor collars. They came tearing right up to an invisible line in the yard and stopped, barking but not advancing - very effective.) The young man who adopted her loved her dearly and, being a hiker, even had a backpack for her so she could accompany him on his outings. (Judging by her weight he also couldn't resist giving her treats, but Carol has put her on a diet that should get her headed in the right direction, weight-wise.)
Sadly, after all these years of happiness and companionship her loving master (age 39) was the tragic victim of icy roads in a recent accident. Thankfully his remaining relatives and a few rescue-savvy neighbors, knew to return her to DRT and will have the satisfaction of knowing that soon she will once again have a loving, forever home.
It would come as no surprise if she were to be a bit mopey at having lost her dad and then her home besides, but on the contrary, she seems to be very well adjusted - a very loving and affectionate girl who loves to ride in a vehicle (and can jump in and out with an agility that belies her significant weight). She loved to be outside with her dad, whether hiking or just working around the yard. But at the same time she was well pampered and of course lived in the house and slept on the couch or his bed. :-) As a humorous and endearing side note, she has a delightful, soft howl that she lets out at the sound of a siren and judging from her ability to sustain the note, her lungs lack no capacity.
The short of it is, while she may not be made of tomatoes, onions, and hot peppers, this spicy girl will without a doubt add zest and piquancy to the lives of the humans in her new forever home.
So try a little Salsa; we think you'll like it.
