HENRY J WOULD BE PROUD
Did you know that at one time you could buy a car from the Sears catalog? (Well, you could see it in the catalog, but you had to go to selected Sears Auto Centers to actually purchase one.) It was called an Allstate. (If you're old enough to remember the Sears catalog, then you probably remember their automotive house brand.)
The Allstate was essentially a re-badged Henry J with minor exterior and interior trim pieces. The Henry J was an automobile that began production in 1950 and, due to government loan restrictions, was quite lean in the comfort (let alone frills) department. The Henry J was named after its creator, Henry J. Kaiser.
Mr. Kaiser was a remarkable American industrialist and founder of more than a hundred companies that have affected and improved American lives for about a century. He even pioneered a health maintenance plan for his employees that the legislative branche of Our Lord the Government might do well to take a second look at under the current circumstances.
In any case, Mr. Kaiser was visionary, energetic, and optimistic. He viewed every challenge as an opportunity, and while not all his ideas were successes (the Henry J/Allstate only enjoyed about a three-year run), he was a most remarkable man whose creative genius enhanced the lives of millions.
Our boy Kaiser may not be an inventor or industrialist, but like his human namesake, he enriches the lives of those who come in contact with him.
To start with, unlike the Henry J...

he's gorgeous to look at. (Well, in fairness, it does have a certain appeal to the boomer crowd.)
But more substantively, he's good with cats, good with dogs (he lived with a chihuahua, whom he loved), and he's good with kids. (That he is of course housebroken goes without saying, and yet I've said it.) He's a family Dobie and a house dog of the best sort from yet another loving family that with aching hearts had to surrender him due to unforeseen family circumstances. His keen eye and alert posture give a glimpse into the personality of this wonderful boy and suggest that the only thing he is lacking is a new forever home where all of his outstanding qualities can be most appreciated by his new family and friends.
Come by and meet him (better bring the SUV and leave the Henry J at home). It's easy to think that given the opportunity, he will make a difference in your lives for years to come.
